The Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Police has paraded not fewer than 30 syndicates for committing various crimes of conspiracy, culpable homicide, rape, and murder including a female trafficker who allegedly stole an Eighth months old baby girl (Nora Joshua ) of Ungwan Nasarawa Gwom of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. The Commissioner of Police, CP Okoro Alawari made this disclosure while Parading the suspects before newsmen at the police command’s headquarters in Jos. CP Alawari commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for the support given to the security personnel in crime fighting in the state, adding the crackdown on criminal elements is a continuous exercise that he promised the citizens of the state to ensure a crime-free society on the Plateau. However, CP Julius Okoro said one of the suspects was a flatmate of the victim’s (Nora Joshua ) parents who enjoyed a cordial relationship when the mother allowed her to stay with her. He said that the suspects paraded for various crimes as a result of hard work recorded by the command, saying these suspects were arrested at different locations of Plateau within the shortest period of his assumption of office about a month ago. Meanwhile, the suspected human trafficker who stole the baby, during an interview with Journalists, argued that she didn’t take the baby away from the parents with bad intentions; that was why she reported herself to the police in Lagos where she took the baby to, and subsequently returned her to Jos and again reported herself to the police. It was gathered that the suspect is a divorcee with two children who are currently living with her Ex-Husband. CP Okoro revealed that his administration has launched a manhunt on all criminal elements in the State, promising that he will ensure the criminals would all be flushed out of Plateau State. The Police chief also paraded a gang of four kidnappers led by one Salisu Adamu, who whisked away seven Students of the University of Jos recently. Another gang of kidnappers who collected a ransom of 4.5 million Naira from a victim in Enugu State were also paraded with five expert criminals who specialized in stealing Transformers and other electrical installations. CP Okoro thanked Plateau citizens for volunteering information to the police, which led to the arrest of most of the suspects paraded. The Commissioner of Police said the suspects will be charged to Court for prosecution upon completion of investigations by the police.
